Mixed-breed dogs are those that developed without planned human intervention or whose ancestry and genetic makeup is not recognized as belonging to any breed. While it often refers to dogs, such as crossbreeds, which are literally a mix of two or more recognized breeds, it is also used for dogs such as pariah dogs who may have no pure-bred ancestry at all. While generally synonymous with words such as mongrel or mutt, the term is often favored by those attempting to avoid the negative connotations that such terms may carry. Dogs interbreed freely so mixed-breed dogs vary in size, shape, and color, making them difficult to classify physically. Mixed-breed dogs manifest a wide variety of appearances. However, if a genetically diverse population continues to interbreed, subsequent generations do tend toward a roughly similar appearance. They tend to be fawn, or black and tan, weighing about 40 lb and typically stand between 15 and 23 inches tall at the withers.

Corian is the brand name for a solid surface material created by DuPont. It is composed of acrylic polymer and alumina trihydrate. Corian can be thermoformed by heating it to 300°F (150°C), allowing unique shapes to be created. Due to its non-porous quality, Corian is approved for use in specialized environments, such as laboratories and hospitals. Corian's versatility allows it to be joined, shaped, and finished into a wide variety of products. Because comes in more than 100 colors and patterns, its primary use is in kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity tops, and wall cladding in showers. Cross-section cuts show consistent color and particulate patterning evenly distributed throughout the material. Nicks and scratches can be buffed out with a Scotch-Brite pad or orbital sander.
The magazine Vanity Fair put together a cute pictorial of celebrities at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party this year featuring actors and actresses putting on the strangest, most bewildering, and funniest expressions they could muster on the photo booth-like pictorial. The gallery includes the likes of A-listers like Emma Stone and Tom Cruise making the strangest faces for the camera. Some of them would be a lot more recognizable if they weren't making goofy faces. And in related news, Sofía Vergara still has a jawdropping pair of Golden Globe awards.
Thatching is the craft of building a roof with dry vegetation such as straw, water reed, sedge, rushes, or heather, layering the vegetation so as to shed water away from the inner roof. It is a very old roofing method and has been used in both tropical and temperate climates. Thatch is still employed by builders in developing countries, usually with low-cost, local vegetation. By contrast in some developed countries it is now the choice of affluent people who desire a rustic look for their home, would like a more ecologically friendly roof, or who have purchased an originally thatched abode. In equatorial countries thatch is the prevalent local material for roofs, and often walls. There are diverse building techniques from the ancient Hawaiian hale shelter made from the local ti leaves, lauhala or pili grass of fan palms to the Na Bure Fijian home with layered reed walls and sugar cane leaf roofs and the Kikuyu tribal homes in Kenya.

Even if you aren't a hockey fan, surely you can at least appreciate the view—a little something for everyone. Here are the 50 hottest ice girls of the NHL playoffs. You're welcome.
Igniting jet fuel so it leaves long fiery trails behind aircraft may not sound like a good idea, but see the maneuver known as the dump-and-burn might make you think otherwise.
A sinkhole, also known as a sink, snake hole, swallow hole, swallet, doline or cenote, is a natural depression or hole in the Earth's surface caused by karst processes — the chemical dissolution of carbonate rocks or suffosion processes for example in sandstone. Sinkholes may vary in size from 1 to 600 square meters both in diameter and depth, and vary in form from soil-lined bowls to bedrock-edged chasms. Sinkholes may be formed gradually or suddenly, and are found worldwide. The different terms for sinkholes are often used interchangeably. Sinkholes may capture surface drainage from running or standing water, but may also form in high and dry places in a certain location. The state of Florida in the USA is known for having frequent sinkholes, especially in the central part of the state. The Murge area in southern Italy also has numerous sinkholes. Sinkholes can be formed in retention ponds from large amounts of rain.
