I Wonder What State He Would Choose To Live In?

The definition of the word pocket is a small baglike attachment. The reason for this particular definition is that the pocket was not originally sewn into garments as it is today. In fact, the first pockets were actually small pouches that hung from the belt where one could carry valuables and coins. The word itself comes from the Anglo-Norman word pokete and traces its roots to the Germanic root word 'bag', which is like the Old English word pocca. The pocket has gone through many changes. There are various other pockets of note, such as hip pockets, thigh pockets, etc. Other pockets with specific uses include a pocket on a woman's purse for carrying a mobile phone and the unusual mitten pocket found on some woolen scarves, for storage of the matching mittens.

Self-defense laws in the United States, particularly regarding justifiable homicide, vary by state. Florida law, as of 2005, includes a "stand your ground" provision, under which a person, under most circumstances, does not have to retreat before using deadly force if he reasonably believes it is necessary to do so to prevent death or great bodily harm. In almost all states, such laws protect people in their own homes; Florida's version extends the no-retreat doctrine to vehicles and public places. In at least 17 states, including Florida, there is no duty to retreat before using force. On March 19, 2012, Florida Governor Rick Scott announced he picked 17 people to head up a task force to review the Florida statute that deals with justifiable use of force, including the stand your ground provision. It was decided that the group would hear arguments and testimony from residents at public meetings across the state and pass along recommendations to the governor and the legislature, and not surprisingly the first of five public hearings will happen in Sanford where the Trayvon Martin shooting occured. Of course some douchebags complain that the task force is dominated by lawmakers who support gun rights, but in a kick in the balls to those douchebags, the reality is only 4 our of 19 members have explicitly expressed their support of SYG. Also Governor Scott signed three pr-gun bills into law over these past few weeks.

“When my husband left on his deployment, our 6-year-old son could not walk on his own. He has cerebral palsy. Doctors originally said that he would never walk or do much of anything. While daddy was away, he learned to walk. For his homecoming, we set it up for Michael to walk to his daddy for the first time ever! We kept the fact that he could walk a secret the whole time his dad was gone!” -Melissa C.

Artex is a surface coating used for interior decorating, most often found on ceilings, which allows the decorator to add a texture to it. Artex differs from plaster in that it was marketed as a material intended to receive a textured finish, thus enabling a ceiling to be finished without plastering skills. Artex was very widely used in Britain in the 1970s, mainly with the familiar stippled & swirled patterns. Sometimes it was even seen on walls, but a fall onto such a wall is not a pleasant experience. Artex is still sold today, but the textured ceiling finishes are a good deal less popular. One issue with artex ceilings is that matching the pattern seamlessly when repairing is impossible. The poor appearance of repaired ceilings did artex's popularity no favors.

English pensioner Alec Alder survived 14 encounters with death over 70 years, proving that the world is a long action movie franchise and we're all just background characters in his story. Although most of his near-death experiences happened during World War II, Alder has been cheating death since before he could shave -- when he was 10, he was badly hit by an oncoming car, but the driver happened to be a doctor and saved his life right then and there. Later in 1939, 20-year-old Alder was drafted into the army, where his entire squadron was wiped out during one of the bloodiest campaigns in World War II; all except him of course, because he'd been transferred to a different post just a few weeks earlier. Other wartime incidents include surviving two German bombings on military sites, being accidentally run over by a tank whose engine stalled right before hitting his chest and having a British fighter plane crash land into the house where he was sleeping, missing his head by inches. After surviving two more close calls miraculous enough to turn anyone religious, Alder did exactly that in 1944, while lying in a hospital bed in India with the broken leg that saved him from being sent to a certain death in Burma. Alder became a Christian, but his new affiliation didn't prevent his ship from being caught in a ferocious storm in Gibraltar when he was on his way back to Britain in 1945. He survived again, only to be nearly crushed to death by trucks two times, in 1947 and 1997. In 1977, he survived a head-on car collision, but clearly, death was half-assing it at this point. Alder finally died from a heart attack in 2008.

Hey Ern long time reader mumbo jumbo....I was curious about the cost of fueling the Saturn V rocket after watching that video of Neil Degrasse Tyson. From what I could find I was able to determine the following: Stage One of the rocket uses 4.5 million pounds of RP-1. At 6.8 pounds per gallon that is 661,764 gallons at $ 3.00 a gallon gives us a total of $ 1,985,292 for stage one. Stage Two uses 980,000 pounds of LH2. At 6 pounds per gallon that is 16,333 gallons at $ 2.50 a gallon gives us a total of $ 408,333 for stage two. Stage Three uses 243,400 pounds of LH2. Staying with the same weight and price as stage two, that gives us 40,567 gallons for a cost of $101,250 for stage three. In 16 minutes and fifty seconds the SatV would burn through $ 2,494,875 of fuel in modern prices. Using the videos specs of $ 4.00 a gallon, that would total $ 2,874,656. -- Moonpie. PS...I did this to the best of my 0500 ability. Feel free to proof read it.

The Iron Curtain has fallen and McDonald's has now reached Moscow. Yes, with the Cold War long over it is surely time for East and West to finally become good friends, to bond as nations. And what better way to break the ice than by spending 15 minutes of our day away from our Excel spreadsheets and air conditioned offices to appreciate what such a glorious and proud nation as Russia has to offer us in the way of hot babes.
