Mildly entertaining: after highlighting the sexual history of Heidi Klum last week, here she turns on up on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine.

The first machine for making espresso was built and patented by Angelo Moriondo of Turin, Italy, who demonstrated a working example at the Turin General Exposition of 1884. He was granted patent no. 33/256 dated 16th May 1884. Multiple machine designs have been created to produce espresso. Several machines share some common elements. Varying the fineness of the grind, the amount of pressure used to tamp the grinds, or the pressure itself can be used to vary the taste of the espresso. Some baristas pull espresso shots directly into a pre-heated demitasse cup or shot glass, to maintain a higher temperature of the espresso. The piston, or lever driven machine was developed in Italy in 1945 by Achille Gaggia, founder of espresso machine manufacturer Gaggia. The design generically uses a lever, pumped by the operator, to pressurize hot water and send it through the coffee grinds.

Orange sapphire was once an obscure and undervalued gem, but this is no longer the case. With orange's arrival as an important fashion color, gems such as spessartite garnet, imperial topaz, and orange sapphire have gained popularity. Orange sapphires range from light pastel oranges to vivid reddish oranges. As a blend of red and yellow hues, orange sapphires may be colored by a combination of chromium (red) and iron (yellow) trace elements, or by exposure to natural radiation.
