No Free Man Shall Ever Be Debarred The Use Of Chalk. - Thomas Jefferson, Virginia Constitution, Draft 1, 1776TODAY IN CHALK: "Emory University President Says Students Are Scared And in Pain After Someone Wrote TRUMP 2016 In Chalk" and "Defiant Belgian Citizens Take a Stand Against Terror With Inspirational Chalk Messages." Dammit, I can't tell if this calendar is March or May since we can't see the third letter, and if it were May the 31st woudl be on Saturday which we can't see either. Biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate -- known in the US and UK by its trade name Mylar -- is a polyester film made from stretched polyethylene terephthalate and is used for its high tensile strength, chemical and dimensional stability, transparency, reflectivity, gas and aroma barrier properties, and electrical insulation. Beginning in the late 1970s, some more expensive (and longer-lasting) foil balloons made of this thin, unstretchable, less permeable metallised films. These balloons have attractive shiny reflective surfaces and are often printed with color pictures and patterns for gifts and parties. The most important attribute of metallised nylon for balloons is its lightweight, increasing buoyancy and its ability to keep the helium gas from escaping for several weeks. Camouflaged amongst the dense firs in the mountainous Almaty City in Kazakhstan, young Kazak architect Almasov Aaibek proposes a woodland sanctuary. "Tree in the house" is a transparent cylindrical volume with a void at its core, revealing a single, towering tree that rises through the lucent space. Oh sure, NOW WE ENFORCE THE IMMIGRATION LAWS.
USS North Carolina (BB-55) was the lead ship of North Carolina-class battleships and the fourth warship in the U.S. Navy to be named in honor of the State of North Carolina. She was the first newly constructed American battleship to enter service during World War II, and took part in every major naval offensive in the Pacific Theater of Operations; her 15 battle stars made her the most highly decorated American battleship of World War II. She is now a museum ship and memorial kept at the seaport of Wilmington, North Carolina, and will be celebrating the 75th anniversary of her commissioning on April 9th. Also, here's a super cool 360° tour of the USS Iowa, the lead in her class, two generations after the North Carolina. The femur is the most proximal (closest to the center of the body) bone of the leg in tetrapod vertebrates capable of walking or jumping. By most measures the femur is the strongest bone in the body, as well as the longest bone in the body. The femur is categorised as a long bone and comprises a diaphysis, the shaft (or body) and two epiphysis or extremities that articulate with adjacent bones in the hip and knee. The upper or proximal extremity (close to the torso) contains the head, neck, the two trochanters and adjacent structures. The head of the femur, which articulates with the acetabulum of the pelvic bone, composes two-thirds of a sphere. The lower extremity of the femur is larger than the upper extremity. It is somewhat cuboid in form, but its transverse diameter is greater than its antero-posterior (front to back). It consists of two oblong eminences, known as the condyles.
Well here's something I ddidn't know: the new Beretta M9-22 is an exact replica of their M9, only chambered in .22LR yet features the same operation, controls and takedown as their venerable Beretta M9/92FS. Note that this is NOT the shitty knockoff made by Chiappa. In fact, here are some pretty good unboxing photos and some footage from Shot Show 2016 -- in the unboxing, note the "Made in Germany by Umarex" who are the same people who manufacture the Sig Mosquito. Despite the M0-22's $399 MSRP, Lanbo's Armosy is offering them for $339. I suspect I may indulge. Well, it's almost lunchtime, and I think I'll grab a hotdog. Find me this hotdog stand. |
