Hail To The King Baby.Elvis Aaron Presley is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King". Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, as a twinless twin, and when he was 13 years old, he and his family relocated to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he recorded a song with producer Sam Phillips at Sun Records. In November 1956, he made his film debut in Love Me Tender. In 1958, he was drafted into military service. He resumed his recording career two years later, producing some of his most commercially successful work before devoting much of the 1960s to making Hollywood films and their accompanying soundtrack albums, most of which were critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed televised comeback special Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. Thousands of Elvis Presley fans have made their annual pilgrimage to Graceland for a candlelight vigil marking the 39th anniversary of the singer's death in Memphis. Despite pouring rain, Presley fans from around the world are holding candles and walking slowly through the gravesite of the rock 'n' roll icon, who died on Aug. 16, 1977. Since his death, devotees have come to pay their respects at Presley's grave, which is located on the grounds of his former home-turned-museum. Here is the last photograph before his death, and a photo take after he was drafted into the Army in 1958, and as previously discussed, a picture of the inside of the Graceland gift shop. While stationed in Germany, Presley met 14-year-old Priscilla Beaulieu, and they would eventually marry after a seven-and-a-half-year courtship. In addition to his wife, Elvis loves many things including several guns he owned to peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwiches. And did you know Elvis loved animals, and kept a horses, a peacock, and a kangaroo? And he's not the only celeb to do so. Some challenge virgins get the limelight today...
Okay, so despite the fact that today is the anniversary of Elvis' death, I still want each and every one of you to have a happy day, if you can show me where. Because if you can, I'll take you out for an ice cream sundae. If you can show me where. Well it ain't 2006 anymore where one could pick up a spam can for $59, but four days ago the guys at Fed Arms got in a shipment of surplus 54R ammo. This ammo features a Russian 148 grain light ball steel core, full metal jacket, boat-tailed bullet and a copper washed steel case. It is not reloadable and as you might expect, uses corrosive Berdan primers. Still cheaper than new production! According to tradition, the first paper was first made in 105 AD by Ts'ai Lun a servant of the Chinese emperor Ho Ti. The earliest record describes how he "made paper by pulping fishing nets and rags. By the early 1600's the Chinese had begun to use thick paper as a packaging material and so cardboard was born. Paper and cardboard manufacture slowly spread west to the middle east and reached Italy around 1255 while the first English paper mill was working by 1495, with the first paper factory in Kent up and running by the reign of Elizabeth l. The popularity of cardboard grew rapidly and cardboard cores quickly followed giving people the ability to wind a wide range of products and fabrics around a cardboard core. Cardboard tubes are now used as the basis of a storage system for everything from carpets, to paper. |
