A fire screen sheet began as a form of furniture that acted as a shield between the occupants of a room and the fireplace, and its primary function was to reduce the discomfort of excessive heat from a log fire. Early firescreens were generally shaped as flat panels standing on attached feet, or as adjustable shield-shaped panels mounted on tripod table legs. Firescreens in the modern home have become decorative shields of sheet metal, glass, or wire mesh that can be placed in front of a fireplace opening to protect the room from open flames and flying embers that may be emitted by the fire. Fire screens were used to cover the fireplace when nothing was burning inside it, and make it look more decorative.

The United Kingdom's Prevention of Crime Act 1953 prohibits the possession in any public place of an offensive weapon without lawful authority or reasonable excuse. The term "offensive weapon" is defined as: "any article made or adapted for use to causing injury to the person, or intended by the person having it with him for such use". Hey Ern, Sorry to hear about the time clock disease you recently acquired. I miss the daylies(sic). Anyway, I was doing my monthly redistribution of wealth at Sam's Club last week and there was this older guy at a sample kiosk with a piece of a burger on a bun. I gave it a try and it exploded with flavor in my mouth. He was repping a local restaurant called Slater's 50/50. The 50/50 refers to the burger patty that is 50% sirloin and 50% bacon. Whodathought? Anyway, I had to try it and this place is one giant artery busting culinary pleasure palace. Far and away the best burger I have ever eaten. Think of it as the most exclusive whore house in Austrailia that only provided burgers.They're only here in So Cal and in Texas so far, but they're trying to franchise nationally. If you ever get out this way this place will make you forget all of your troubles. Big D
