Sch-406, diesel-electric Soviet WWII submarine, Pike class X-bis series (captain Hero of Soviet Union Osipov Eugeny Yakovlevich) lost without trace in Gulf of Finland at 1943. Sub's hull was found and identified by our team at May 2017. Now we know, that sub was lost while trying to break thru German minefield Seeigel near Bolshoy Tuters island. Sch-406 hit mine by her front right side, most part of the hole is located under silt and cannot be seen. Crew members survived the explosion: main bridge hatch is fully open and aft emergency hatch is half-open. From Finnish archives it's known that few days after loss of Sch-406, Finns found body of Soviet submariner, wearing self-saving equipment at the shore of Ristisaari island. He was buried on that island. We checked winds and currents in that time around that region and believe, that he was one of Sch-406 crew members. [video]
